Pride

Pride is an issue that most of us deal with as a Christian. I find us looking at others and comparing our "good works" to theirs. Why does it make us feel better to look at others and see their faults and compare it to our lives? It gives us a moment of pride, but easily fades away. Then we have to keep looking for more flaws in other people to make us look better. STOP doing that! It will never satisfy you.
When I realized that this was becoming a stumbling block in my walk with Christ, it was tough to admit it to God. Why is that? Because of my pride! I was brought to Galatians 6:4 "But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor." When I first read this verse I thought, "We are only supposed to boast in the Lord." Then I began to dig deeper and I understood that Paul was telling the Church of Galatia to stop looking and comparing your burdens and works to others; line them up with the infallible Word of God.
This cut deep when it really sunk in. When I begin to line up my actions in my life with the Word of God, I will be able to boast in myself, because it is the Spirit working through me. We will have comfort in our hearts to know that our lives are approved by God and His word. Wow. So stop comparing your life to other people and start comparing it to the Word of God. His word always stands.
